Decima Fund Secures 4.5 Billion Yen to Bolster Web3 Ventures in Japan

Decima Fund, a dedicated Web3 venture fund, announces the successful closing of approximately ¥4.5 billion in capital to support the global expansion of Japanese Web3 ventures.

In a boost to Japan’s emerging Web3 industry, Decima GP Limited has announced the successful closing of a financing round, raising approximately ¥4.5 billion for Decima Fund, LP. The capital raising, completed on March 14, 2024, marks a key step in the fund’s mission to incubate domestic projects aimed at overseas markets as well as foreign projects aimed at entering Japan.

Decima Fund, created with a vision to strengthen Japan’s presence on the global stage, begins its investment activities in the Web3 domain, having already decided on 10 investments. These ventures are designed to catalyze Japan’s presence in the global Web3 ecosystem, supporting the international expansion of Japanese Web3 enterprises and facilitating the entry of global players into the Japanese market.

The fund is co-managed by well-known entities and individuals with significant experience in the Web3 space, including gumi Inc., led by Hirokuni Kobayashi; MZ Cryptos, founded by Yusaku Maezawa; SBI Holdings, led by Yoshitaka Kitao; and Animoca Brands, with Yat Siu as executive chairman. Their collective experience is expected to provide strong strategic support to the fund’s portfolio companies.

Representatives of each managing partner expressed optimism and commitment to the fund’s goals. Yusaku Maezawa of MZ Cryptos is keen to contribute to the growth of Japan’s Web3 industry, while Masashi Okuyama of SBI Holdings sees the fundraising as an opportunity to accelerate their Web3 initiatives. Yat Siu of Animoca Brands aligns Decima Fund’s mission with his own, proud to be part of a team pushing the industry forward. Hirokuni Kobayashi of gumi Inc. sees the fund as a significant influence on the Japanese Web3 industry and its future.
